Sampradaya Bhajana Vidyalayam Annual Day Celebrated in Full Splendor

28th December 2013 - Sampradaya Bhajana Vidyalayam (SBV) celebrated its first anniversary by conducting two days of Bhajans. The event was held in Thamaramkulangara Ootupura hall, at North Fort Gate, Ernakulam.
Agenda and Performing Bhagavathas
The event was inaugurated by renowned music director T.S Radhakrishna ji. The beginning of the Annual day was marked by the `Arangettam’of the students of Sampradaya Bhajana Vidyalayam.
True to the objective and name of the Sampradaya Bhajana Vidyalayam, the agenda for the two ways was in accordance to the Sampradaya Bhajana Paddhathi. A notable highlight of the event was that most of the performing bhajan teams were from Tripunithura, and all the artists were employed professionals, who were taking to Nama Sankeerthan as a matter of passion.
The students of Sampradaya Bhajana Vidyalayam kick started the event by rendering Thodaya Mangalam and Guru Dhyanam, after paying respects to the Guru and founder, Sri. P.S. Ramachandran Bhagavathar. Pandurang Bhajana Mandali (Ladies wing) continued this further by singing Ashtapadi one to seven. Smt. Ananthalakshmy Subramanium and party rendered Ashtapadi eight to 17. This was followed by Smt. Chitra Jayaram & party (Bhakta Meera Bhajana Mandali) who sang the rest of the Astapadis and Panchapathi. Chakkankulangara Bhajan Samithi completed Devatha Dhyanam. This was continued further with Pooja Padhathi, Divya Namam, Deepa Pradakshinam, and Dolotsavam in its complete elegance, by Sri. Vinay Chandra Menon Bhagavathar, from Bengaluru.

The next day morning began with Unchavrithi and was followed by a power packed Guru Dhyanam by Sri. R Srikanth. The highlight was the rendition of Ayyappa Thodaya Mangalam, in prelude to the Harihara Putra Kalyanam that was to follow.
P.S Ramachandra bhagavathar then continued with Harihara Putra Kalyanam. Harihara Putra Kalyanam being a rarely rendered Kalyanam in Bhananothsavams, it was much enjoyed by all. The Sannidhi of the Sri Thamaramkulangara Ayyappa further accentuated this reverence.
Release of the Listen & Learn CD `Hari Narayana’

Marking the first anniversary of the Vidyalayam, the school also released an audio CD `Hari Narayana’. What can be called the first of its kind educative CD for beginners in Sampradaya Bhajan, the CD includes Dhyana Shlokas, Thodaya Mangalam, Guru Dhyanam, Ashtapadi (1 – 12) and some Tharangams. As the CD aims to serve the beginners, all the songs are sung in a simple manner, and all the shlokas are also repeated for the convenience of listening and learning. The CD was released in front of Thamaramkulangara Ayyappa Sannidhi.
Guru Vandanam and Conferring of Titles

The event culminated by `Guru Vandanam’, wherein Sampradaya Bhajana Vidyalayam, along with the founder P.S Ramachandra Bhagavathar honored two veteran Bhagavathas  - Brahmasri R Gopalakrishna Iyer and Brahmasri S.S Kulathu Iyer (who was unable to attend the function due to an unexpected personal reason), and conferred upon them the title of `Nama Prachara Ratna’. The two bhagavathas have been greatly responsible for propagating Nama Sankeerthan in  Tripunithura for years, braving all difficulties and personal constraints.
The annual day served as a great encouragement and launch pad for the students of Sampradaya Bhajana Vidyalaya, and was made a huge success because of the sincere and meticulous team effort by all the well wishers and the performing bhagavathas.
